What to keep first

Prioritize drinking water, usable food, medicine and repair supplies, then keep the Crowbar and treasure tools for looting. Equip the Large Backpack from the starting house to carry four items in your hotbar.

This guide covers Early Access items. Keep fresh food on Fridge or Cooler shelves to stop it spoiling, and use placement mode to secure supplies in the RV before driving.

Collect the opening supplies, then search ahead

  1. Collect the house supplies before leaving: Small and Large Backpacks, Bottle of Water, Jerrycan, Coolant, two Flashlights, Radio, Grinder, Polisher and Cigarette Pack. Keep the First Aid Kit supplied with the starting van.
  2. Search the opening stretch for a Shovel, Crowbar and Compass. Each is guaranteed within the first 3 km in either direction from the start; collect the Metal Detector at the first major stop you reach.
  3. Continue searching as you travel. The Camera and Plant Pot appear between 5 and 15 km; with two or more players, a Reviver appears between 8 and 20 km.
  4. Look for repair supplies at later stops. Chargers do not come with the starting house, so keep useful roadside finds instead of expecting a starter Charger.
04

Keep similar items separate

Check flexible containers before drinking or pouring. A Bottle of Water, Bucket, Mug or Coffee Pot can contain another liquid; the Water Jug accepts water, the Jerrycan gasoline and the Coolant container coolant. The radiator accepts water or coolant separately, so empty it before switching liquids.

Keep small tool batteries separate from vehicle batteries: the handheld Battery cannot fit the RV. Use a Charger on the vehicle battery, an Engine Repair Kit on the engine and a Tire Repair Kit on a tire. An Engine Repair Kit will not charge a battery.

Use First Aid Kits or Pills when hurt or poisoned; neither is consumed at full health without poison. The Reviver serves a different job: bringing a downed teammate back at full health. A teammate can also revive you by hand, with a weaker recovery.

Carry the Metal Detector, Shovel and matching key together for treasure. Follow the detector to its steady tone, dig until the chest is fully exposed, then hold the key at its lock and interact. Chest keys are consumed; the Crowbar is for stuck or locked doors and lids.
